For anyone wondering what would have happened in The Walking Dead if Rick had awoken from his coma just a little earlier on, and had decided to parade around the hospital with the help of a no-name cop buddy, Zombies Ate My Doctor has the answer.
As players hurtle down the hospital corridors they need to tap on the oncoming zombies (some of which need more than their prescribed amount of handgun rounds to the face) to fire at them , while simultaneously swiping or tilting to avoid locked doors, traffic cones, or body trays in the morgue. A variety of power-ups are on hand to even the odds, including a speed boost, enhanced self-defense by way of a football helmet, and a friendly syringe with life-giving serum inside.
There are also golden keys dotted about the hospital that will grant players another life if they end up as zombie chow too soon. However, on a couple of occasions I used the key to revive myself before hitting the very same obstacle a second later and dying all over again. A more generous restart - void of zombies and harmful environmental objects - should definitely be a priority at this point. The margin of error could also be a little more generous too, as I often found myself clipped by an obstacle I thought I had cleared. Fortunately for players, there is a replenish-able health bar that means the fun can go on for longer periods at a time.
Graphics are vivid, fun, and alive with color (unlike the undead that patrol the hospital hallways), though a little rough around the edges in places. All in all though, Zombies Ate My Doctor is a very playable, enjoyable casual game that has great replay value despite some of the hiccups I experienced during my time with it. Give it a try, stat.
