During PAX, Digital Extremes laid out the 61st character and the next narrative chapter coming to Warframe. We covered all that, and it sounds very exciting. However, we are an impatient lot. Well, me. I am an impatient lot. So to tide us over, the latest Prime Access has kicked off.

The latest Warframe to get the shiny treatment is Yareli, the waverider. She is the patron saint of the Ventkids Syndicate, who operate in Corpus-run Fortuna, although she definitely sounds more like a surfer stereotype from a movie. She enjoys K-Drive racing, and her trailer seems to show her playing around more than fighting.

Having said that, a moment to praise the trailer. The animation style puts me in mind of Netflix’s Nimona, or perhaps the Spider-verse films. And the music is incredibly catchy. It must be said that Digital Extreme’s Matthew Chalmers is a musical genius. Warframe always sounds amazing, and he is a key part of this.

Anyway, back to Yareli. Playing as her, you can surf into battle on your trusty sealife steed Merulina, trap enemies in water globules, slash people with aquablades, and bury foes in a maelstrom. Her Prime arrival also brings the signature bubble pistol Kompressa Prime, and how can you take that seriously? Luckily, Daikyu Prime also arrives, and that one is incredibly exciting. Bow-combat in Warframe is amazing.

You can become a fashion icon with the customary suite of accessories, with the Thalassa Prime Ephemera energy aura, Merulina Prime Syndana backpiece, Merulina Prime Domestik Drone, and Yareli Prime Glyphs. Of course, Yareli Prime and her weapons can be unlocked for free by grinding out those Blueprints and Components.

If you need a break from farming, Nora Night has returned with Nightwave Vol 9. Complete these weekly, daily, and permanent objectives, and you can walk around with the Cogna Operator cosmetic collection, Raya Aurora Ephemera energy aura, and the Xaku Warframa Raya Skin and Helmet.

Warframe is available to download from the App Store.
