Versus Chess

Versus Chess was designed to be an online multiplayer chess game. Due to that it requires that you have an internet connection of some sort.

One of the problems with games that require multiplayer is that it takes time to build up a player base so that there are always players available to play. While each time I've checked the lobby there were people available to play, when you choose the Instant Match option you may get pitted against a bot, especially if there isn't anyone at your level available to play.

The controls are decent but could use a few changes to accommodate the small screen. When you touch a piece to move you are shown the available spots to move to which is nice. Problem with the board is that it is possible to touch the wrong space to move to. And with this being a multiplayer game there is no undo and unfortunately no way to cancel a move (like swiping your finger to another space before lifting, etc.).

The multiplayer seems to play equally as well over any of the connection methods, Edge, 3G, or Wifi. As long as you have a connection, it should work.

If you are looking for a chess game that lets you play against other humans, this is a great option. Price is a little high, but chess games usually seem to be.
