Tiny Cup

Tiny Cup is a runner that pits players against a small army of a team as they weave in and out of the opposition to ultimately best a goalkeeper in a penalty shootout.

To achieve this they'll need to tap on either side of the screen to make their player to dribble left or right, picking up stars as they go. There are 3 modes available, including a Quick Match more focused on the running aspect, a Penalty Shootout, and a superior Tournament Mode that combines the 2 into a challenging test of reaction time. After choosing their country of choice (from the 38 available, flags and accurate kits both included) and being entered into a 16 team knockout table, players will run the length of the field before putting away that all important penalty and progressing on their way to the final.

I say that like it's easy when actually it's anything but due to the pixelated graphics that definitely have the potential to bring on some motion sickness - thanks to some pretty serious motion blur. The fact that the camera is so zoomed-in doesn't help, nor does the sheer speed at which the player moves or the almost impossible space between the opposing players. On an iPhone it might not be as debilitating, but on the iPad it was a real strain. It makes for an often frustrating experience, even if it is a slightly addictive one.

With the World Cup underway, Tiny Cup is a fine way to pass a couple of minutes at a time (perhaps during the half-time break, match analysis, or even during those inevitable faked injuries), but there isn't enough content to stop it from being relegated to the sub's bench pretty quickly.

Tiny Cup

It might be quicker on its feet than Messi, but Tiny Cup can't keep up the pace for long.
