Tetris teams up with Space Invaders to support the planet
I don’t trust those Space Invaders with Earth Day, they are plotting something
The irony of writing this on an LED keyboard with a triple monitor setup is not lost on me, but it is Earth Day today. That time of year when we consider our impact on the planet, and then carry on as normal. Still, it leads to some interesting projects by companies, such as this crossover between Tetris Mobile and Space Invaders.
Any fans of gaming history will understand the monumental team-up this is. Two of the most iconic elderly statesmen in our little world are coming today to do good for the earth. Even if one of the games is about destroying Earth. Also, both feature elements descending from above. Coincidence? No, Tetris blocks are the debris from space defence now.
Conspiracy theories aside, let’s get back to Earth Day.
This collab has been trundling along throughout April, with phase two reaching its conclusion tomorrow. That means until the end of the day tomorrow, the 23rd, you can still enjoy a curated set of levels in Tetris. Completing these will trigger a donation from Playstudios, which is a nice bonus for playing an iconic title.

And while this is, of course, a worthy cause, phase three has something more exciting in store. From April 24th to the 30th, you can take part in the Invaders Showdown Tournament. This introduces a new limited-time game mode and will put you head-to-millions-of-heads in an epic competitive tournament.
Players around the world will all compete to vanquish this mode the best for that most valuable of prizes: a high spot on the leaderboard. If your ego is not closely entwined with gaming as mine is, then there are also exclusive rewards up for grabs.
Trtris is available to download from the App Store and Google Play, with the Space Invaders crossover lasting all through April.
