Temptation Episode 1 Review

Sticking to what works so well for G5 Entertainment, Temptation Episode 1 is a fairly relaxed title that's part Hidden Object, part adventure game. While it might look a little dreary and dated, it's pretty fun to play and should while away the hours nicely, at least for those looking for a laid back affair.

Combining a mixture of problem solving and object spotting, Temptation Episode 1 doesn't revolutionize but it's a solid mix of popular adventuring ideas. Things start out a little slowly as the story unfolds, before the introduction of magic flowers ramp things up and prove more useful in terms of ways in which to solve puzzles. A task list consistently keeps track of what needs doing, ensuring that the hints button can be reserved for only the most head-scratching of issues rather than being directed around the area.

Besides wandering from scene to scene solving various conundrums, hidden object scenes emerge. These are a little basic at times, although they do benefit from having some clues that require further exploration or interaction with other objects. Besides that is a healthy supply of logic puzzles and mini-games. These, for a change, can be quite challenging too, with one lock-based puzzle proving particularly tricky. There's always the option to skip after a time, but that's hardly the point here.

I'd have preferred to see more puzzles of this type rather than the usual wandering around and combining items, but it's still a pretty enjoyable title. With a fairly tight rein placed on the logic used, Temptation Episode 1 serves well as an intermediary between more strongly Hidden Object-focused titles and more adventure game-weighted fodder. It might not be the most charming of titles to look at, nor one that tests the iPad's capabilities, but it's still worth a play. It'll be interesting to see how this series develops further.

Temptation. Episode I HD

Part Hidden Object game, part adventure title, Temptation Episode 1 is a fine introduction to a new series. If only it didn't look so dreary.
