Kingdom Rush Vengeance Update Guide 3 - What you need to know about the Halloween Update

Posted by Campbell Bird on October 24th, 2019

Kingdom Rush: Vengeance now has gotten three updates. It started with the Subaquatic Menace back in February, followed by The Frozen Nightmare in May. And just yesterday, a Halloween update went live featuring three new stages, four new enemies, a premium hero, and a premium tower.

After playing through this latest update, I can safely say it’s the most satisfying content addition to the game so far. Read on for why that is.

Kingdom Rush Vengeance guide - Is the Subaquatic Menace Update Worth It?

Posted by Campbell Bird on February 28th, 2019

Kingdom Rush Vengeance recently added more content to its already pretty packed tower defense game. This update, called Subaquatic Menace, promises more levels, heroes and towers for you to play with.

For fans of Kingdom Rush Vengeance, this is much welcome news, but this update might not exactly be all it’s cracked up to be. After playing through all of the content that Subaquatic Menace has to offer, I can confidently say it won’t sell you on the game if you haven’t already picked it up, and its additions will only make a big difference to diehard completionists.

Iron Marines guide - Is the new update worth it?

Posted by Campbell Bird on September 27th, 2018

When Iron Marines released around this time last year, I lauded it as one of the best real-time strategy games on mobile, and I still stand by that. The game wasn’t perfect by any means, as it had a relative lack of content and a weird mircotransaction model that felt unnecessary, but it was still a near-perfect execution on how to streamline a genre onto mobile.

This week, Iron Marines dropped a new update that added a bunch of free content to the game. In light of this news, I wanted to take a new look at Iron Marines and assess whether this update makes the game worth jumping into if you decided to skip it initially.

Ironhide finally gives us an Iron Marines update

Posted by Jessica Famularo on January 26th, 2017

Many were wondering what had happened to Ironhide Game Studio's upcoming RTS, Iron Marines, which was announced a year ago (though production began a year before that). People got especially antsy as Ironhide announced a new Kingdom Rush game earlier this week. Had the project been scrapped in favor of the developer's well-established franchise?

As it turns out, development on Iron Marines is well underway. Ironhide shared a minute-long look at Iron Marines' gameplay. The video (above) showcases a beta build of the game, featuring what a match might look like. There's a lot of what you might expect from a game of this nature -- base building, some deep strategy, and a variety of units. It all looks very smooth, though, and the cartoony artistry of the hand-drawn graphics are a refreshing touch.

The team is hard at work and pushing for a final release. In a blog post, the team mentioned that they've just completed their first beta, which was a solid success. Ironhide expects Iron Marines to be the first game they publish this year, launching sometime mid-2017.

Kingdom Rush breathed fresh life into the tired tower defense genre way back in 2012. The game was a robust challenge that somehow managed to lift you up, rather than leaving you feeling crushed and hopeless. The rich array of unit types and towers made it one of the most elaborate mobile games of its time. Naturally with its quick rise to fame, many follow-ups would be made, the last of which, Kingdom Rush: Frontiers, launched in summer 2016.
