Take a Look at japan's Exclusive - and a Bit Odd - Hacha Mecha! Gremlin Wars

Posted by Jessica Fisher on February 24th, 2015

Appspy has found a Japan only Gremlins movie tie-in game! Hacha Mecha! Gremlin Wars was officially released by Warner Bros. and is a free-to-play tower defense game. Players collect Mogwais in order to prevent the gremlin forces from attacking Gizmo, and the graphics are chibi-style adorable.

Hopefully Japan will see fit to share this bizarre little game with the rest of us soon.

Upcoming Game Pro Pinball: Timeshock! Releases New Trailer Exclusively on 148 Apps

Posted by Tre Lawrence on January 28th, 2015

Great news!

After a successful Kickstarter Pro Pinball: Timeshock!, an upcoming title from Barnstorm Games, will be arriving on the App Store later this week. That in itself is awesome.

Ahead of that, we are proud to announce that we have a new trailer for the game -- exclusively on 148apps.com!

The game is based on the popular 90s game series Pro Pinball.

Barnstorm Development Chief Adrian Barritt mentions the nostalgia that made the redevelopment possible. “It’ll be great to have Timeshock! back in the hands of players again; the Kickstarter campaign has demonstrated that there is so much nostalgia for this title both from us and fans of the original Pro Pinball series of games," he says. "We are bringing the definitive pinball simulation to a new generation of platforms and players, starting today with iOS. The Retina screens and tactile nature of the iPhone and iPad are such a perfect fit, the game has never been realized in such stunning clarity before.”

As noted, the game is due out this week. It will be available in two tiers, Standard ($2.99) and Deluxe ($6.99) on the App Store.

The trailer is below:

Hipster CEO 2 hasn't launched yet, but the good people at Getchoo Creations have sent us a couple of teaser screens to give you an idea what you're in for. It looks like the teenage crowd is going to net Jen a small profit but hey, at least they're easy to market to.

In the meantime, we'll wait with twirly mustaches and bowties in anticipation for Hipster CEO 2.

Hogwarts Lands on iOS

Posted by Blake Grundman on November 11th, 2010

Unless you have been living in a bunker for the last decade, it would be impossible to not know of a rapscallion of a wizard by the name of Harry Potter.  After first launching an invasion via the printed work, J.K. Rowling's creation has managed to find its way to both the silver-screen and the small screen via a successful series of films and video games, respectively.  But that wasn't enough for the citizens of Hogwarts, as the brains over at Traveler's Tales decided to give the brand one more successful reboot, taking the route of the other successful Lego branded games such as the popular LucasArts Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises.

The game landed on consoles at the end of June, but what does this have to do with iOS, you say?  Today, a little birdy over at Warner Bros. let slip of an upcoming port of the game to all current iOS based devices.  This lines up perfectly with next week's launch of the first part of the "Deathly Hallows" conclusion to the Harry Potter story.  Here is what you can look forward to in the iOS iterations:

"LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 will bring the world of LEGO Harry Potter to life on the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad, giving gamers the power to play with LEGO characters and models in a brand new way.  Based on the first four Harry Potter books and movies, LEGO Harry Potter builds on the foundations of previous LEGO videogames by offering a mix of fun, accessible gameplay and light-hearted humour – which appeals to all ages. Players will explore and feel as though they are ‘at Hogwarts’"

We could not be more thrilled at this news.  Seeing as how the game clocks in at a thirty dollar or more pricetag on consoles and PSP/Nintendo DS, this could very well be the last nail in the proverbial coffin of the aforementioned versions.  So pull up a broom, because you are going to be in for one heck of a ride! According to our source, the price is still yet to be decided, and the release date is "soon."

Will Sprint Be Getting The iPhone This Summer?

Posted by Ben Harvell on May 24th, 2010

Mac Rumors has received unofficial word that Sprint may become a carrier of the iPhone as early as this summer. The site points to skeptical claims made by a Sprint employee who has been reliable in the past and to a TechUpdate post covering information from a BestBuy employee who has similar information.

We reported recently that AT&T's iPhone exclusivity may be under threat from other carriers and that it narrowly avoided losing sole rights to iPhone tariffs by offering a very competitive data plan for the 3G iPad. Verizon is the most hotly tipped network to take on the iPhone but, should AT&T's exclusivity come to an end, Apple may well consider multiple iPhone carriers as it has done in Europe. As Mac Rumors points out, multiple contracts would also see a boost in iPhone uptake as has been seen with Android-based handsets. TechUpdate's unnamed BestBuy employee feels that AT&T's exclusivity has already been lost with the blow softened by exclusive iPad tariffs in the meantime.

Steve Jobs is set to host a Keynote at the start of Apple's World Wide Developer Conference on June 7 so perhaps we will find out more then.

Exclusive First Look: 'Little World Gifts'. An Interview with Jonathan Deamer.

Posted by Arron Hirst on November 10th, 2009

A little while ago I got the heads up on a small startup iPhone development studio based just up the road from me, in Liverpool (UK). Consisting of a team of both iPhone developers and 3D designers, Kisky Media have come up with a unique and interesting concept. Debuting this December, Little World Gifts will become a virtual 'Gifting' system for iPhone (and iPod touch) which will allow you to pick out, buy and send exclusive rich 3D interactive gifts to a special someone. The app will work off in-app purchasing, and each gift received or sent will be downloaded straight into the app itself.

Sending an gift to someone else's iPhone is as easy as tapping the item, setting a delivery time, and hitting 'Done'. Received a gift from someone else? You can store and organise your gifts too, on your own virtual shelve. Talking to the startup, the idea behind Little World Gifts is basically to let people experience 'gifts' in a more interactive and visually pleasing way, beating the static 2D object approach.

Over the weekend I got the chance to speak to Jonathan Deamer, community and communications manager at Kisky Media exclusively about the new service, to ask just what was Little World Gifts, how he and the team at Kisky Media thinks this concept might affect the App Store and its users in the future, and a little more about Kisky Media in general. Enjoy!

iPhone App - Designed for iPhone, compatible with iPad

You know Ustwo™ right? You can't miss them. They're the guys who seem™ to™ love putting '™' after everything™. But, more than that, they're also the iPhone development studio behind thinking up and creating the 48-hour apps concept. The concept being, they create a set of 6 exclusive applications, and each application is developed within 48 hours, from concept to final product. The first of which you've probably had the pleasure of being introduced to, .™. You may have seen this viral?

Well today, the studio are announcing that they're about to release a spooky update to their popular real-time mouth simulator MouthOff™, just in time for Halloween.

They're calling it, MouthOff™ Hell-oween™.

If you're not familiar with MouthOff™ yet, it's a real-time mouth simulator. The app basically allows you to control various well-designed cartoon mouths, by using just your voice. The app picks up on background noise via the iPhone's microphone .. and the results are - undoubtedly - laugh out loud hilarious.

As seen in this video with Jimsy using one of
Jon Burgerman's signature mouths for MouthOff™

This update will include four new mouths for you to get chatty with, including: a vampire, a zombie, a pumpkin and that frankenstein-looking dude (as seen above). You won't have to wait long either. Ustwo™ tells us that this update has already been submitted to the App Store as of Today (October 6th), and should hit shortly. So, stay tuned!
