Untappd has a simple mission: it wants to help beer lovers find good beer. Not just where the good beer is, but also to discover new types of beer to drink. Start out by creating an Untappd account, which can be started by logging in with Facebook. Note that users have to be at least 21 to sign up.

The Pub tab shows drinking activity from friends, the global Untappd community, and even nearby. Use the Discover tab to find specific beers nearby, popular places to grab a good drink nearby, and even find trending drinks. Use the center Drink Up tab to add beers, and Untappd will even suggest beers to try based on what’s been added in to the app. My Tab is the section to track check-ins, the distinct number of beers tried, and to see earned badges. Finally, Notices lists interactions from friends, and the latest news from Untappd. Remember to drink responsibly, but have some fun drinking new beers with friends.

Somewhat similar to Liquid Fare comes DrinkedIn, an app more focused on the drinking experience than meeting new people.

DrinkedIn offers a similar GPS based experience with users able to find bars dependent on their location, however it's the addition of the bar or pub reviews that make it useful. Much like a Social Networking app, DrinkedIn gives its users the chance to post pictures of them and their friends at a bar or write up a blog entry about it. There's even the potential for discussion with forums available within the app.

DrinkedIn already has listings of over 150,000 bars across the US, UK, Brazil, China and the rest of the world so there should be something for everyone. Future updates are promised which will include listings and reviews of different types of alcohol.

For those looking for a different kind of drinking experience, DrinkedIn could quickly become an essential app. It's out now and it's free.

Fan of frequenting bars? Single? Live in the US? Then Liquid Fare might just be the ideal socializing app.

Liquid Fare's developers promise that this app is designed to act as a smartphone wingman enabling its users to find a local bar with just the type of people they desire. It relies on local bar data and information submitted by other Liquid Fare users. Users can submit reviews and other details such as the average age group, style and even attractiveness within the bar.

Search results according to these ratings can then pop up using the iPhone's GPS facility and users can see how a bar ranks amongst its local competition.

Liquid Fare could really take out the effort in finding the ideal bar for any individual. It'll certainly be great for those who have just moved to a new area and are trying to figure out where's right for them.
