Strike it rich in OIL, out now on the App Store

Posted by Luke Frater on April 5th, 2018
+ Universal App - Designed for iPhone and iPad

If you’ve ever had aspirations of becoming an oil tycoon, digital board game OIL might help you make that dream a reality. Set during America’s early 1900s oil boom, you’ll be mining for oil while fighting off the competition in the Wild West. It’s certainly not for the faint of heart, but if you persevere, you could come out the other side the king of your own oil empire.

OIL veers away from your typical resource management board game, instead more closely resembling Battleship. Players begin mining for oil on a shared board, meaning you’ll have to keep your opponent from growing their prospects while you keep the oil flowing to fill your own coffers. OIL’s world is heavily inspired by the grim Oscar-winning drama There Will Be Blood, raising the stakes and giving the game a bit of a darker spin.

You can play OIL against an AI or with your friends, with no need for internet. The game progresses across 18 different levels. Gameplay can get pretty intense, but OIL’s soothing soundtrack and pleasing minimalistic visuals lends the game an excellent balance.

The digital oil boom starts now. You can find OIL on iOS and tvOS today.
