Zombie Gunship is a fast-paced shooter that puts players in the cockpit of an AC130, armed to the teeth with a single mission: destroy the zombies and protect the humans in the bunker.
The game is a quick pick-up-and-play title with a lot of style. And, it’s not just for zombie fans. In fact, it’s pretty hard to tell the enemies are even zombies, which depending on your love for the undead can be a weakness or a selling point.
Killing the enemy is easy using intuitive responsive controls, and the game has a brief tutorial mode to show gamers the ropes.
There are tons of weapons to use for Zombie-annihilating including a 25mm Gatling gun, 40mm Bofors auto-cannon and a 105mm Howitzer cannon. And the radar helps detect incoming waves. This game is compulsively replayable.
Each kill earns in-game currency in order to buy weapons upgrades or repair the gunship. If players can’t earn them quickly enough, they can also be purchased via IAP.
Zombie Gunship is not a deep complicated game, it’s just great zombie-killing fun. The graphics are slick, the sound effects just fit, and the goal and controls are simple. It’s a game for shooter fans.
I confess, I came to kill zombies more than to engage in a quasi-realistic military shooter. But, despite the zombie element being only vaguely thematic, and shooting tiny targets the point, I was surprised at how hard the game was to put down. I got the military jargon from the App Store, but enjoyed the game on its own merits – even without zombie-guts flying.
If a casual endless shooters appeal Zombie Gunship is a kick-zombie-butt title sure to please. Oh yeah – try not to kill the humans!
