Pool Live Tour Mobile is a polished pool simulation game that offers online gameplay with Facebook friends, random opponents, or even a friend on the same device. There are several venues to play in and a ton of pool cues to unlock and collect. While this game is absolutely fun and addicting to play, it is a freemium app that offers some ridiculously expensive in-app purchases.

A Facebook account is necessary to play online and with Facebook friends. After logging in, players are given an initial amount of coins to play with. Coins are necessary to play each game, as they require an entrance fee, and there are progressively more expensive entry fees for various venues. In addition to this fee, "win" points are earned and are used to unlock other places to compete at. Finally, players may purchase gold coins that can be exchanged for upgraded pool cues. While in-app purchases are usually fine, there are some expensive packages in this game. For example, players may purchase a package of coins for $79.99. In my opinion, such a price point is simply unnecessary.

Pool games are mostly judged on their controls and realistic physics. The physics in this game are nearly perfect. The balls seem to have accurate momentum and the sound effects increase the realism of the contact between them. I do, however, take some issue with the controls. Players tap on the cue ball, pull back for power, and rotate for direction. An additional finger on the screen controls spin. This scheme works well for the most part, but proves to be difficult when shooting from the edge of the table. From the edge, it is nearly impossible to get much power out of a shot. In reality, even though it is difficult to shoot from the edge of the table, it is absolutely possible to make a forceful shot.

Pool Live Tour Mobile is truly a fun pool game experience on the iPhone. After getting used to the controls, it really does become addicting, as players strive to gain more coins to unlock a new venue or pool cue. Aside from the crazy in-app purchases, this is definitely a game worth trying. Check it out.
