This pedometer app's elegant design might be what you need to start taking the stairs instead of the elevator.

Runtastic Pedometer PRO is part of the larger Runtastic fitness platform that users can access via mobile device or computer to track and analyze workouts ranging from a stroll through the park to more obscure things like wakeboarding or horseback riding. This app in particular focuses on tracking the amount of steps you take throughout the day. Daily sessions can then be uploaded to your account history, where the app and its online counterpart can provide a detailed breakdown of your walking sessions. In a nutshell, Runtastic Pedometer PRO is a highly specialized app, but it does its job beautifully, making it a valuable purchase for anyone interested in tracking their movements throughout the day.

In terms of information tracking, Runtastic Pedometer PRO documents everything from your number of steps to you step frequency (i.e. how many steps you’re taking per minute) all in real time. It even displays a sleek-looking graph of your activity which you can refer to later in your session history. Although many of these features are available in the free version of the app as well, it is worth paying for the PRO version if you want features like unlimited session history or calorie counting functionality.

Aside from its use throughout the day, Runtastic Pedometer PRO also proves incredibly useful for anyone that frequently exercises on a stationary machine like a treadmill or exercise bike. Unlike some of Runtastic’s other app offerings Pedometer PRO does not rely on GPS data to determine a user’s distance traveled, making it very useful in this regard. The app is also capable of hooking into other social networks like Facebook and Twitter. The only really nifty tie-in network, however, is MyFitnessPal, a free calorie counting app. Instead of just blasting your followers with workout information, Runtastic Pedometer PRO can send your activity metrics to MyFitnessPal to help you keep better track of your caloric intake.

Overall, Runtastic Pedometer PRO great at what it does, and is well worth the $1.99 asking price. It does exactly what it is designed to do, and it does so elegantly.
