[Are those dang ghosts giving you trouble? Take a look at our PAC-MAN CE DX tips & tricks guide.]
Score chasing is one of the oldest concepts in gaming. The same can be said of Pac-Man. Despite such a potentially dated idea, PAC-MAN Championship Edition DX proves to be one of the most compelling score chasing games out there.
Much of its success is down to its trickle feeding of content. Starting out, you’ve only got the one zone to negotiate and the one mode too. That’s the perfect introduction though. Starting out with a score attack mode, you’re racing around the maze just like Pac-Man has always done, but it’s faster and more enticing.
As you progress, your speed increases with momentum lost if a ghost catches you. Speed is everything when it comes to making the big points. You don’t die when a ghost catches you but slowing down does mess up your chance of a good high score and soon puts you off your stride.
And that’s the beauty of PAC-MAN Championship Edition DX - you’re never punished. You’re simply encouraged to do better next time. Pretty much every time you play a mode, a new one is unlocked and then you’re enticed into checking out a new mode or a new maze to explore. Those modes include a time trial, score attack mode, and ghost combo (where you’re rated according to how many ghosts you eat up), and while they’re fairly similar to each other, they’re never less than great fun. It's a similar case with the mazes, mixing things up just enough to keep things consistently interesting.
With a steady stream of achievements to unlock, plus the means in which to chase your friends’s high scores, there’s a lot of longevity to PAC-MAN Championship Edition DX. It’s ideal for mobile play given how much you can get done in the space of a few minutes. You’ll soon find yourself drawn in for more.
