OmniOutliner 2 Review

OmniOutliner 2 is a neat tool that allows for creation of detailed and awesome-looking outlines. Anything from budgets to educational outlines are possible to make with this handy app. While it may seem like a simple app it comes with a myriad of possibilities, allowing for more than just text. Users can create any number of different outlines they so choose, making the world their oyster so to speak.

This app allows users to quickly organize the material within their outline document. OmniOutliner 2 allows for quick drag-and-drop options for users to move anything anywhere they chose within a document. Likewise, the app allows for the quick creation of new columns to add additional data within one’s document. The ease in which one can manipulate their outline to their needs is quite impressive. It's also worth noting that these documents can also be exported in a number of different ways, such as an .xls or .doc file. Likewise, OmniOutliner 2 also accepts documents in the aforementioned formats to be uploaded and modified within the app.

One of best features of this app is the ability to fully manipulate an outline in such a way that makes it aesthetically pleasing, clean, and easy to work with. Within an OmniOutliner 2 document, any row can contain a drop-down which holds more text or data below it. These can easily be opened or hidden by the simple tap of a finger. Additionally, OmniOutliner 2 allows one to use the pre-made templates within the app as well as letting users to make their own customized templates. There are many fonts and colors to choose from, making the documents visually appealing. On top of all of this customization users can also insert pictures and web links into the documents, allowing them to embellish their outlines. This allows anyone to take a simple outline and turn it into an impressive display of notes, figures and data.

While all of these features are great, the price point of OmniOutput 2 may be a bit difficult to justify for some, especially if you already own the first OmniOutliner for iPad. This app does allow for users to create magnificent outlines for organization and tracking, styling them and syncing them with the desktop version. OmniOutliner 2 may not be perfect, but for what it is meant to be used for, it does it magnificently.
