It’s not often that I can become so enthralled with such a slow paced game that offers very simple techniques with its gameplay. However, NightSky provides beautiful visuals, blissful gameplay and an overall peaceful time while going through each area of the game.

NightSky sets a mood and that’s exactly how this title wins with its physics-based puzzle gameplay. It starts with a short story of a boy who finds a glowing sphere on a beach and ends up taking it home with him where he begins having strange dreams of the sphere in many peculiar places. This is where the gameplay takes place, as players control the sphere by easily swiping or tapping the screen throughout many of these unique surroundings that are full of obstacles. The light ambient soundtrack makes for an even more calming experience.

The gameplay features many aspects for completing an area. Sometimes players spin the sphere as fast as possible to jump gaps, walls, or even balance on top of a spinning ball as it rolls to the other side of the stage. During other levels, it’s not possible to move the sphere at all, but instead players have the ability to shift gravity in order to get from one side to the next. Additionally, there are levels with different machines that give players even more ways of getting past a stage. Some of these machines fly by swiping the screen and others will jump and float across the level as players navigate them properly to move forward in the game. Players will even be embraced by moments of pinball action in order to get through an area.

Because the game looks and feels so unique, it’s easy to appreciate its change of pace when dealing with the extra machinery that helps players progress through a level. Also, the puzzle solving that takes place is simple but so much fun as well, tasking players with control of blocks, boulders, and planks that need to be dropped at the right time in order to gain access to areas for moving forward.

NightSky, on its regular difficulty, is some of the most enjoyable and relaxing gameplay I’ve experience while still providing enough of a challenge. The harder difficulty makes for an even better play-through for those who like higher challenges and more difficult tasks. Additionally, to gain access to bonus levels, players must find hidden stars in selected areas throughout the game which is also a great deal of fun because they’re not always on the regular path.

Don’t allow this game to escape into the night sky. Instead, seize it now and begin experiencing and enjoying simple moments of pure tranquility.
