As a simple way to get started with constructing your family tree, MyHeritage is a fairly handy app. It misses out on some vital features, such as the ability to add sources to your information for later reference, but as a foundation it’s got things right.
You start out by entering the pieces of your family tree that you do know about, easily slotting together relationships as you go along. If, like me, you don’t know much about anything past your grandparents, you can then dip into the records section of the app. Here, you can search through various records to see what you can dig up. This is also where the monthly subscription fee is near essential with the majority of results requiring a premium membership.
Pay up and MyHeritage proves to be a convenient mobile solution. It’s easy to browse through and add entries, as well as include various photos of your family memories through it. You will end up wishing for a place to insert more details though, as it’s handy to know the backstory. This feels more like an app aimed at newbie to genealogy rather than experts.
