Millie's Crazy Dinosaur Adventure is an interactive title in a series of Millie Was Here - charming multimedia experiences children and their adults will really appreciate. Here Millie, a cute little dog, builds a space ship to hopefully transport her back in time to earlier that day - because after having arrived at her friend's birthday party, she realized that she had forgotten her present. Things go awry though and Millie actually travels back into the time of the dinosaurs where she goes on an adventure, then safety arrives back in present time.
There is so very much to explore here for babies, toddlers, and the preschool set as there are many sliders, dials, buttons, and other interactive elements as well a charming narrative thread children will have fun with. Adults will admire the wonderful rich style like that of Victorian carnival games with details such as carnival-themed music, dark wood and suede details, and other ornate details included within. I also appreciate how photo and video clips are also included and really pop off the page, as well as a few cute and fun mini-games and hidden stickers to collect. There's even the chance to choose different plot devices akin to a “Choose your own Adventure”-styled story.
Millie books are nothing but age appropriate and I have always admired how, although the narration may speak of great adventure and even a little danger for Millie and friends, the photographs and video of Millie tell a different story - here of Millie not running from dangerous dinos, but enjoying a visit among dinosaur statues that one may find in a dinosaur-themed park that children will smile at. The storytelling of these books reminds me of the tall tales that children tell as their imaginations run wild, creating drama out of their vivid imaginations.
The wonderful narration that is included is optional, as are hints that one can use to make sure children find all the interactive elements and hidden stickers offered within these pages. I also admire the use of Bedtime mode, which dims the screen, hides the stimulating games, and softens some of the effects that may be too engaging before bed - wonderful considerations that I really appreciate. It is easy for me to recommend Millie's Crazy Dinosaur Adventure as well as the other Millie books. I love the sense of humor of the developers at Megapops and can’t wait to see what new adventures Millie will find herself involved with in the future.
