Cookery apps are great. I know this having used, probably, too many over the years. They can also be kind of like browsing through Netflix. The first idea looks great but you keep looking. By the end of your search, it’s been an hour and you’ve found approximately 73 possible suggestions, and you still don’t know what to do. You give in trying something new and end up watching or cooking an old favorite. KptnCook isn’t going to overwhelm you like that. It offers you three recipes a day. That’s it!
It works pretty well too. You load up the app and it dishes out three options as picked out by foodbloggers. Each recipe is attractively laid out, with sections for ingredients as well as step by step instructions. There are photos available for each step too, simplifying the process. If you particularly like something and don’t want it to vanish after 24 hours, you can hit the favorite button to store it for later. Also, KptnCook tells you roughly how much the recipe will cost to make, which is useful information. KptnCook dispenses with categories, so you won’t know what you’re going to get each day, but that’s part of the appeal. It feels a little adventurous.
Ensuring you won’t feel too overwhelmed, KptnCook is a handy addition to a keen chef’s arsenal. It’s varied and appealing, and you won’t find yourself spending too long trying to decide what to cook.
