Kapsula isn’t an easy game by any means, but it is an appealing one. It combines the obvious mixture of racing and Match-3 gameplay, because that’s a partnership that we’ve all been waiting to see! It sounds odd, but it works by relying upon some very fast reactions and quick decision making.
It’s not so easy though, as there are usually numerous different gems/kapsulas around and it’s not hard to end up snagging multiple kapsulas at once, then get stuck in trying to get rid of them quickly without crashing. You can collide with the colored walls to clear matching kapsulas but again, you want to ensure you don’t clip anything of a different color otherwise it’s Game Over.
It’s tricky early on. Very tricky. But such short bursts of gameplay mean you’re often eager for more. As you play, you start learning to react faster and to make more sensible decisions. The multiplier gradually trickles up and so the satisfaction builds.
Of course, that’s assuming you’ve got the patience. Kapsula is tough and many that are more used to casual fare will be put-off pretty quickly. For those looking for a more indie vibe and an intriguing mash-up that no one would have considered before, Kapsula does a lot right.
