Ferris appreciates that many mobile videos are pretty short. They’re snapshots of our lives rather than anything particularly significant or wondrous. At first it might seem like a typical video sharing app, but it changes things around by giving you a way to slot videos together amongst many users.
It’s an interesting concept, allowing you to create videos with friends or strangers, piecing together something quite cool from various fragments. You can do things on your own too, simply picking out videos from your camera roll and putting it all together. That’s fairly typical of a video creation app though, so it’s the idea of splicing things with others that makes Ferris stand out.
You can browse through what others have created too, by searching for keywords or specific people. There’s no way of checking out what’s currently popular though, which is normally a great method for learning about something new. At least the search function is fairly effective so you can find things easily that way.
Taking a different approach to video-based storytelling means that Ferris is more distinctive than most. While not perfect, it’s certainly an interesting concept that offers some longevity.
