The game starts out with a quick introduction to get players started. The controls are simple but hard to grasp at first. Players swipe a bungee from the canopy to the monkey to help him swing. There are an unlimited amount of bungees available, but players must be quick enough to pull them down. Once the monkey latches on, gamers must tap at the right moment to achieve a perfect launch. I utilized the practice mode until I felt comfortable flying the monkey through the jungle, but I still had hard time the first few times I played. The controls take a little while to master.
Players will want to collect as much fruit as possible to build up their bubble shield in the upper left corner. The shields are also available throughout the jungle for those who are swift enough to snatch them. When the insects start attacking, gamers will want to touch the shield to activate it. The shield percentage goes down as the insects attack so only use it when the pests are affecting the monkey's speed.
There are many perks in the game that keep it interesting. For instance, Bungee Monkey wears a special cape when he gains enough speed. Gamers also earn a bonus the next time they play once they complete all three goals and get a new title. There are 10 titles and 30 goals to achieve in total.
The game ends once the sun goes down. The score is tallied at the end and players can view the goals that they completed. Gamers can then play again or strengthen their bungee swinging skills in the practice mode.
Bungee Monkey is an impressive game and a bargain at less than one dollar. It’s perfect for gamers of all ages and really has a family-friendly appeal. If you’re in the market for a new pick-up-and-play game, I’d recommend purchasing this one.
