QuizUp is one of those games that will make time vanish somewhere. Exuding plenty of that beloved "just one more go" mentality, it's a heck of a lot of fun - proving evolutionary, if not revolutionary, when it comes to the trivia gaming genre.
The idea is as simple as its interface: players compete with others from around the world in a bid to be the biggest trivia expert out there. Really, while there are plenty of leaderboards to peruse the fun comes from simply enjoying knowing more trivia than others.
There are few restrictions questions wise, too. Over 250 topics are catered to, with questions about physics, spelling, literature, and the TV show Friends amongst the categories. There should always be something for everyone, regardless of interest. In each case players can choose to compete with a random opponent or by challenging a friend, with 6 rounds followed by a double-points round providing the basis of the game. Questions are multiple choice, although fortunately this doesn't necessarily make things easier. This does however ensure that each game of QuizUp is pretty speedy, making it ideal to dip into throughout the day.
Besides the questions side of things, QuizUp offers mostly everything one could want from such a game. It's simple enough to challenge friends with asynchronous multiplayer that's easy enough to set up, as well as have a conversation with them or other players. A discussion board for each subject further provides some social contact, plus there's an extensive leaderboards section.
Most importantly for any quiz game, despite playing it frequently I rarely found any questions to be repeated. QuizUp has a decent amount of longevity thanks to this and its wide breadth of knowledge. There's really no logical reason as to why any trivia game fan isn't rushing to their iOS device now and downloading QuizUp. It's excellent fun.
