Paper business cards are quickly becoming a thing of the past thanks to smart phones and social media. Instead of carrying around a stack of them, it’s now possible to share contact information with just a few taps on the iPhone’s screen. A new app known as QRIDS makes it even easier for iOS users to share their business cards through the app without much effort at all.
Users can manually input their information or create a business card automatically with a LinkedIn account. The app then creates a QR code that can be scanned by another user. The code may be shared via text, email, and Twitter, or saved and printed.
QRIDS also comes with a built-in scanner so users can quickly add other contacts and store them all in one convenient location. After the information is stored, it’s possible to make phone calls and send emails directly from the app itself. Contacts can be sorted by names or tags to make it easy to find a specific person.
That’s all there really is to it. It’s quite basic and doesn’t have any extra frills like a way to store pictures of business cards, a way to store notes with contact information, or social media links assigned to specific contacts. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing though as the app does what it promises; and that is to store and share business card contact information quickly and easily. The main downside is that users can only store a set number of contacts. It’s required to upgrade to the full version for $4.99 for additional contact space. The app doesn’t disclose how much contact space comes with the free version, however.
Anyone looking for a quick way to share information will appreciate the simplicity of QRIDS. Since it’s free to download, it’s perfect to keep tucked away in a folder for those 'just in case' moments.
