AllHours Review

From Politepix comes AllHours, an iOS app that targets users who need to easily figure out time differences across different time zones.

The app uses a simple, easy-to-use interface, featuring three different time zones. When you specify the time in one of the zones, the app automatically updates the other two, telling you the time in that location. So, for example, say you're in Los Angeles and it's 12:00pm, and you want to know what time it is in both New York and in London at that time – you just configure the app, enter the Los Angeles time, and AllHours does the rest of the work.

AllHours has a couple of extra features that are worth noting. For instance, you can easily send the final time/date information via e-mail by simply tapping on an e-mail icon on the screen. The app prepares the e-mail body, and all you have to do is put in the e-mail address, subject title and hit send. Further, you can also update Google Calendar from within the app, which can be handy for those using Google's service for team projects.

One of the apps' weaknesses, though, is that it's limited to displaying just three time zones. It would be nice to be able to look up more time zones simultaneously. Also, the interface is somewhat drab and could be a little slicker. There are two different options – a sun/moon theme and a modern business one – but neither are particularly eye-catching.

With AllHours, Developer Politepix is targeting business-minded users who might have to set up meetings across multiple time zones. In such cases, AllHours would certainly be handy. But is it worth a dollar when you can find the same information online for free? Considering the portability and convenience of having the app on your iPhone or iPad, why not? If you need access to this kind of information on the go, AllHours is not a bad deal at all.
