Pokémon TCG Pocket releases its best artwork so far in new Wonder Pick event

With the recent release of the Celestial Guardians expansion on Pokémon TCG Pocket, all eyes have been on one meta-shifting card: the Rare Candy. Unfortunately, it seems that the Pokémon Company decided they couldn’t make an accessory set covered just in candy, so instead, they are celebrating with the next best thing, Solgaleo ex. 

We are back with another classic Wonder Pick event to rack up those Event Shop Tickets and pretty up your decks once again. You can collect these by, surprisingly, engaging with the Wonder Pick mechanic. The quests range from picking six times, collecting one of each of the two promo cards, and that most heinous of quests, collecting ten cards of a specific type.

This time around, the promo cards in question are Cosmog and Lycanroc. The former is a basic Pokémon that can Teleport for one energy and switch with a Benched ally, but throw a Rare Candy at them, and you’ll evolve into one of the expansion's two banner exs. The best thing Lycanroc has going for it, on the other hand, is how cute they are.

In short, they are ok, but certainly not the centrepiece of this event. That instead goes to the Solgaleo accessories. I am not exaggerating when I say the cover, card sleeves, and, in particular, the playmat, are the greatest art that Pocket has done. They feature a beautiful image of Solgaleo standing in front of what could be a majestic stained glass background. Genuinely incredible stuff.

You can complete the set with the lion-emblazoned coin, which is ok. Then there is a Solgaleo and a Sparkling Sky backdrop, which, I think, is fair to say, just shows what pieces got the most attention. You can wrap up the collection with the Lillie Icon, but this whole event is worth it just for those three pieces alone.
