Pocket Poet

In my time of exploring the App Store for new delights, I've never come across a personalized poetry service. Until I came across Pocket Poet, that is. The app gives users the chance to create their own poetry for a number of different situations, all through the wonders of Pocket Poet's array of phrases.

Always important in an app of this kind, Pocket Poet is very easy to use and results are quick to see. Look under options and there are choices to adjust the poem for a friendship, romance, birthday, mother's day or, slightly unusually, for work colleagues. Further variations come in the form of adding genders, names, eye and hair color and personality traits. It all adds a fun personal touch to the experience, although I did notice traits were leaning towards the romance side of things rather than workmates or mothers. Traits consist of things like pretty, sexy, cute and cheeky, which don't always work with every scenario. An activities section helps here with the ability to enter text explaining a shared activity that the two parties participate in.

The results are quite fun. Nothing award worthy but certainly smile worthy and a quick swipe of the relevant verse changes to another creation, giving plenty of options. Some are pretty sweet to read, while others might need switching around for the right occasion. It's possible to change backgrounds, also, which adds to the sentiment.

Once a poem has been finalized, sharing options are numerous with the ability to send via email, SMS message, Facebook and Twitter. Such options should keep everyone happy.

Appearance wise, Pocket Poet is pretty simple to look at which lacks a touch of class it deserves. While it's pretty situational, there's nothing else like it out there. For that reason, it should be applauded.
