With goings on such as Warframe getting a new narrative quest and SD Gundam G Generation Eternal being its wonderful self, the mobile gaming world is beautiful right now. Or at least the little sphere in which I like to dwell. That wasn’t enough, though, it seems, as Atlus has come along and confirmed that Persona 5: The Phantom X is dropping June(s) 26th.

Even before we get to the game proper, anything Atlus touches is pure gold. Ever since my first experience during the PS2 era with Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne, and Persona 3 FES, I have loved the company, and they have never made a bad game. I will fight for that stance. Now, love letter aside, let’s check out The Phantom X.

As the astute of you may have deduced, this is a spin-off of Persona 5. It is the latest in the Persona series starring the insufferable Morgana. I said no bad game, not no bad characters. Luckily, Phantom X follows a new protagonist and a fresh band of Phantom Thieves to get to know. Old favourites will pop up in special contracts, however, so don’t fret.

It sounds like we are going to be getting a full Persona experience with all the bells and whistles we all love. There will be relationship building, which will unlock original side stories through the Synergy System. There is also the usual side missions, Persona collecting, and strategic turn-based RPG fun.

Mementoes returns, and we are getting a new PvE mode called The Velvet Trails. Excitingly, there will also be a Guild feature, which lets players interact with each other in-game. This will most likely be the usual messaging, but I am holding my breath for a cooperative battle feature. I miss Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine, I will take any online Atlus fun.

Persona 5: The Phantom X can be pre-registered on the App Store and Google Play.
