RedLynx loves physics. All their games seem to involve creative uses of physics in some prominent way, and Nutty Fluffies is the latest physics-based game. It’s also a cautionary tale about why stuffed animals should not be running amusement parks. It’s because they keep falling out. These rollercoasters are just not safe at all. So it’s up to the player to commandeer the cars, tilting them in midair, adjusting their speed, and activating their jets?! Yes, some of these rollercoaster cars have jets, magnets, and even the ability to jump. It’s seriously not safe, a safety commission would have a field day with this park.

The player, in controlling the cars, collects hearts on the track, with bonuses available for buying certain animals that have special properties, like getting extra hearts while in midair. By getting plenty of hearts, more coins are earned, which can be spent toward extra animals and unlocking new levels.

The problem with the game is that it feels so hard to control. The player can frantically swipe horizontally to adjust speed and rotation, but the cart tends to flail about of its own volition, and generally it feels more like not doing anything to adjust it in midair is the best way to ensure that the little fluffy animals don’t go careening about to their doom.

The game encourages repetition of earlier levels, by which I mean it requires it: later levels take more money in order to unlock and to use the special animals. So returning to the earlier levels, and doing their harder runs with more carts is necessary just to grind to unlock the next level, potentially even completing objectives to get more coins. Of course, the game does have IAP to buy more coins.

However, the fun of Nutty Fluffies comes in trying to succeed, and watching the animals bounce around the tracks, and the cars flying through the air. Seriously, stay away from this amusement park. But the game itself? While it’s not as fun as MotoHeroz, it’s got enough interesting elements in it to be a worthy download for the curious.

Nutty Fluffies

Nutty Fluffies from RedLynx takes players on a literal rollercoaster ride but the player has about as much control as they do on an actual downhill rollercoaster ride.
