Moonrise is a very promising-looking, Pokemon-esque monster collecting and battling game that we were really looking forward to reviewing, but unfortunately it looks like that's never going to happen.

Undead Labs founder Jeff Strain laid everything out on the table in a recent blog post, explaining that the lack of player interest coupled with server costs has forced them to make the tough decision to shut the game down. That's not to say there's been zero interest - far from it, in fact - but there just hasn't been enough. And so, there will no longer be a worldwide release and the Moonrise servers will be shutting down at the end of this year on December 31.

In the meantime you can still find Moonriseon the Canadian App Store, and Undead Labs will continue to add new content for the rest of the year as a thank you for existing players. In fact, they play to "open the floodgates" and just start pouring out all sorts of ideas since they don't really have to worry about profits anymore.
