I don’t particularly like to talk about games or products that are only useful to one or two specific devices, however, this one is just frankly too cool to ignore. Bitmo Lab, a brand formed by JSAUX and SSPAI, has announced the release of a new phone case, dubbed the GameBaby.

Now, let’s get the downsides out of the way first so we can focus on the good. First of all is obviously that name, which the less said about that the better. Second, you will need an iPhone 15 Pro Max, or the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro Max which, last time I checked, would cost you roughly one spleen. Speaking of price though, at least in this case it is priced reasonably. The presale kicked off yesterday and at the time of writing the super early bird price of $19.99 was still active, which was last for 1,000 units. It will then switch to $24.99 for the regular presale, before launching at $39.99. I have seen some boring plain cases being sold for more, and they can’t do what this one does.

Kicking off with the style, it is nostalgically beautiful. I was instantly brought back to being a seven-year-old, sitting on my window ledge waiting for my mother to come home with my first Gameboy and a copy of Pokemon Red. It's clearly tugging at the classic design strings and it works fantastically.

The best part though is that it is an actual functional controller, to a degree. Slide the bottom half off, stick it on the front, and you have that retro controller ready to play. Obviously, you can only really use it on games that take up half the screen, and none really come to mind. Still, though, it's a very pretty and fairly cheap case to pick up regardless.
