If you've spent any time playing Transformers: Earth Wars, you've no doubt discovered that attacking enemy bases is much simpler than defending your own. As the attacker, you've got multiple Autobots or Decepticons at your command, all with their own unique special abilities.

Meanwhile, your base has mostly static weapons and a lone bot to keep things safe on the home front. Yet there's no need for despair. Follow our base defence tips and tricks and you'll have the best possible chance to keep the opposing faction from making off with all your hard-earned resources.

Put your Headquarters in the back

It's almost impossible to construct a decent defence in Transformers: Earth Wars with your most important building near the front of your base. Remember that if you lose your Headquarters, all is lost, and placing it within easy range of abilities or the long range weapons of the Gunner class Transformers is just asking for trouble.

Moving the HQ to the back forces attackers to run the gauntlet of your defences, hopefully buying time for your guns and other weapons to wear down the opposing bots. Make it a priority to clear out obstacles on your plot of land so you can push your most precious possession away from the front lines.

Keep your guns close together, but not too close

Ideally, you want your auto cannons, laser turrets, and other guns close enough together that they have overlapping firing arcs, allowing more than one of them to hit a target at any given time. Happily, you can check to see any weapon's arc just by tapping on it.

But placing them adjacent to each other isn't a good idea, since it makes them too easy to take damage from a single area of effect attack or ability (Mixmaster's Orbital Strike, to name one). Leave as much space as you can between turrets while still allowing their arcs to overlap for the best results.

Don't put too much faith in walls

Maxing out the number of wall units you can place and leveling them up as soon as possible is a sound plan. The problem is that literally every attacking squad has a way to deall with walls, so they won't be standing for too long in most cases.

One strategy that may work is to place one wall before your first line of defences, then save another few units to place on two sides of your Headquarters (keep in mind, that attackers can't come at you from behind, so no need to fully encase your HQ). That second wall is a last ditch delaying tactic, but it just might buy you the extra seconds that spell the difference between victory and defeat.

It doesn't matter much who'sin the Outpost

It's easy to imagine that being assigned to the Outpost is the least favorite duty of any character in Transformers: Earth Wars. You're alone and outnumbered when the attack comes, and it just doesn't seem like much fun.

Alas, you can feel free to roleplay and have Starscream on Outpost duty because Megatron doesn't want him fouling up another plan, because the stats for your defender are determined by the level of the Outpost, not the character's Bot Power. So while this choice may seem important, it's really not.

Always be upgrading

It goes without saying that every time your player level goes up, you should immediately invest in any new defences that open up for you. However, upgrading your other structures can help your defence too.

Why? It's because even resource buildings like the Alloy Harvester get more health sometimes when being leveled up, and they can serve as damage sinks that slow attacking robots down while your weapons take aim. Every time you're logged out of Transformers: Earth Wars, you should be upgrading something, because anything you do will help your next base defence.
