TiMi Studio Group is taking the reigns in the iconic series with Monster Hunter Outlanders
If you wanted to play Monster Hunter on your mobile then you have a few choices; Stories for some turn-based fun, Puzzles for, well take a guess, and NOW if you need a reason to walk. We all need a nudge. But what about the true Monster Hunter experience? Enter, Monster Hunter Outlanders.
Since 2004 the Monster Hunter series has been setting the standard for giant monster co-op hunting, so much so that everything in the genre after it will always be compared. A high honour few games attain. You of course can enjoy the experience on a Switch, but soon we have the full experience in a truly portable way. Try to comfortably fit a Switch in your pocket, it can’t be done.
As you no doubt know Monster Hunter is built of three main components; crafting gear, exploring massive maps full of even more massive enemies, and doing it all with a few friends. Developers TiMi Studio Group are aiming to bring all that and more to the table with Outlanders, including regular world events and activities.
If you think you recognise that name, you no doubt do. They are the masterminds behind titles such as Age of Empires Mobile, Call of Duty Mobile, and Pokémon Unite. All are high-quality games for sure, but I will tell you what they are not; Action RPGs in giant open worlds. Leafing through their catalogue, they don’t have much experience with that.
Watching the trailer they released though does soothe that fear, if only a little bit. You can see the iconic sprawling landscapes and the exploration you would expect through climbing and catapulting. Not a single sword swing though. Monster Hunter Outlanders is very much in its infancy though with no launch date, but there will be several play tests, and I am cautiously looking forward to how things pan out then.
