Throw a little roguelike into your resource management with As Far As The Eye coming soon to mobile
Games like Age of Empires 2 and The Settlers 4 made up most of my PC childhood, I loved resource management and village building. Not once though did I think this needed roguelike elements, mostly cause that didn’t really exist, but As Far The Eye is coming to mobile soon, and the combination sounds actually amazing.
As Far The Eye, or AFATE which is an acronym I love, is a turn-based resource-management game. You are placed in charge of a mobile village and must take your tribe to the centre of the world, known as The Eye. Sounds pretty easy, but it is a Roguelike for a reason.
There are no enemies in AFATE, but by no means does that mean you are safe. The wave is forever encroaching upon you, threatening to swallow your tribe of pupils. Also on your journey, you will discover many wondrous locations, but an equal amount of random events that could threaten to destroy your whole adventure.
Harvesting and stocking items will always be a priority; you can’t walk forever so you will need to construct a camp at some point, known as Halts. You can also upgrade your buildings through the improvement system, strengthen your Pupils by teaching them jobs, and benefit your group as a whole through Tribe’s Knowledge.
In your travels, you will encounter other tribes and characters who you can befriend, trade with, and even recruit to your party. You might even stumble upon Sacred Sites, where you can leave an offering for a safe pilgrimage. Of course, you can also choose to plunder it, but be aware that your actions have consequences.
As Far As The Eye is scheduled to launch on March 5th on theApp Store and Google Play. Pre-register now to lock in a special discount.
