Age of Heroes: Conquest is 5th Planet Games’ all new turn-based multiplayer RPG, full of fantasy exploration, guild building, and treasure hunting.

It’s pretty user-friendly as far as these games go, but when you really get down to it, you’ll find that its combat and systems run pretty deep. Here are some tips to get your game off to the right start.

Elemental affinities are super important
The elements play a huge role in combat. You’ll find that each of your heroes, and each of your enemies, is strong in one element while weak to another. Play to these strengths and weaknesses as much as possible. You’ll find that battles are a lot more difficult if you ignore them. There’s a nifty elemental wheel in the lower-left corner of the screen in case you ever need a refresher.

If you don’t have any characters of a particular element, it’s a good idea to unlock one using the market or by collecting enough of that character’s shards. A well-balanced party is one of the keys to success in this game.

Don’t forget to level up
Your characters gain experience in battle, and the game will even let you know when you’ve collected enough to level up, but it won’t do it for you. You’ll need to go into the character menu and spend the XP to gain those levels. If you’re familiar with RPGs, you’ll know that this is essential for building up your party of heroes.

Each character, or summon, has a hierarchy of tiers, too. You can move up a tier by paying with coins you earn in battle or buy as an in-app purchase. Increasing to the next tier is a wise investment, as it grants your characters stat bonuses and unlocks new abilities.

Don’t rely on brute force
It’s true that in some games, especially playing in single-player, that you can rely solely on offensive attacks to walk away from a battle victorious. Age of Heroes is a tad more complex than that.

You’ll come across enemies with mountains of HP and powerful abilities to boot, some of which can stun your heroes or leave them with other nasty effects. It’s times like these when you’ll need to use not only your offensive powers, but also your buffs and debuffs. Early on in the game, an ability like poison can be a lifesaver in nasty encounters, especially when you’re up against a foe that you’re weak towards.

With all of these things in mind, we think you’ll be battle ready. In fact, once you have a few quests under your belt, it might be high time to join a guild and get in on some of Age of Heroes: Conquest’s PvP action.
