Aspyr and Lucasfilm is bringing the classic Obsidian RPG Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II to iOS and Android devices on 18th December.

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II is, as you may guess, a Star Wars game. It’s set several thousand years before the events of the films take place, and five years after the first KOTOR title where you play as a lone Jedi who must reconnect with the Force to regain their strength and survive the impending extinction of the order.

It was originally released on PC in 2004, during a time many Star Wars fans consider to be the golden age of video games for that franchise, which also saw games like Battlefront, Bounty Hunter and Republic Commando release. Now, it seems like the technology has become so advanced that we can now play this once beefy PC game on our mobile phones with touch screen controls.

“Fans have been asking for a mobile version of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II for so long, and we’re thrilled to finally bring it to them,” says Aspyr’s Elizabeth Howard on the upcoming launch of the game for mobile. “We’re proud to continue working with Lucasfilm to bring classic titles like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II to modern platforms.”

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords is available to buy as a pre-order on the iOS App Store or Google Play for Android. It will release on 18th December as a premium title, costing $14.99 to play. Maybe that’s a bit pricey for a 16 year old game, but it’s clear a lot of work has gone into making this port function well on mobile platforms. If you ask me, I think it looks better than ever.
