Serania Path of the Scion is a text-based adventure game from indie developer FableTree productions that's available now for iOS and Android. It sees players taking on the role of a villager who is being hunted by the King's army, the Blackblades.

Despite the game being text-based, the developer it says it doesn't get overly heavy as you explore the world, looking for information about your family's mysterious past. To discover clues that will help your search you'll chat with a myriad of NPCs through dialogue trees.

Beyond that, you'll also have to battle those who aren't as friendly, choosing your actions carefully to ensure the best outcome. There will also be elements of inventory management to contend with as you find items to inspect that may prove crucial throughout your adventure. Discussing the game, Peter Ravnholt, sole developer at FableTrees Productions said: “Sometimes you just can let go of an idea. Text-based games do not have to be tedious to play.”

He added: “There is much innovation happening in this genre, and here is my take on how to get people immersed in reading and having fun. I feel that I'm just getting started here, and hope to bring more engaging, story-driven games to the players.”

Serania Path of the Scion is available now over on the App Store and Google Play. It's a free-to-start game with an in-app purchase of $3.99 to unlock the full version.
