September will be a clash of the titans for Pokemon Go as Dynamax content heats up

Pokemon Go has gotten a lot bigger with Dynamax Pokemon arriving, but that is just the tip of a huge iceberg. September is blitzing through the gears in terms of new content, and you will need a Dynamax friend by your side to survive.

To get your first Dynamaxable Pokemon, make sure to complete the Special Research, which is available until December 3rd. After this, you will need to head out to the new Power Spots to collect Max Particles. These are needed to transform into your giant Pokemon, but also to upgrade them. You will have to spend Max Particles and Candy in order to unlock Max Moves, and then level these up for stronger efforts. Each Pokemon can have three Max Moves; an attack, Max Spirit, and Max Guard. The first move is a powered-up Fast Attack essentially while Max Guard reduces damage taken, and Max Spirit heals the Pokemon, and its allies.

Indeed, I said allies, because pretty soon you will be able to engage in some cinematic Godzilla-flavoured bouts when Dynamax Max Battles debut. You need at least one Pokemon in your team who can Dynamax, then you can head over to a Power Spot for a chance to partake in these mammoth battles. These Spots do shift, however, so you may have to explore a bit.

These fights proceed as usual, except with an additional gauge that's filling up whenever you attack. Fill this up and you will be able to Dynamax for three turns for massive power. During the fight you can also swipe energy icons, to get your meter filled quicker for more gigantic action.

After the battle, you will reap your rewards, which can be increased by spending PokeCoins, but it doesn't stop there. Leave a Pokemon at the top and it will earn Candy, and also give future Trainers a boost in battle. They will return with their spoils after they have helped other players enough or the Power Spot closes.

Pokemon Go is available to download now from the App Store and Google Play, with Dynamax Pokemon beginning to appear at Power Spots on September 10th at 10:00 local time.
