Bulwark Studios just brought turn-based strategy title Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus to the App Store, but I would probably wait before you buy it. Although it seems like a really cool blend of tactics game mechanics, this iOS version has a soft-locking problem, which you can see in the video above.
Aside from this particular issue, the game seems to run normally (and seems pretty fun to boot!), but you can never really tell when the game is going to hitch up on you, and Mechanicus isn't great about auto-saving, meaning you can lose valuable progress pretty easily. The bug itself pauses the game’s action and music, and tapping on the screen (which I am doing constantly over the course of the video above) doesn’t really do much. There are moments where the game seems like it will restore itself, but it never does.
I wish I could say the video above is the only instance of this happening, but it seems like nearly every play session I have with the game results in a soft-lock at some point. It's possible there's an update planned to address this problem, but so far there's no apparent acknowledgement of the issue by the developers. As a result, I'd hold off on buying the game for now.
