Pokemon Go developer Niantic has announced that the annual Pokemon Go Fest will once again return this summer. Pokemon Go Fest 2021 is set to take place from July 17th to 18th, and like last year, it will be a global event rather than being confined to one location.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, Niantic had to switch up its approach to Pokemon Go Fest 2020. The format saw Trainers across the globe working together to complete various challenges including battling as Team Go Rocket. There were a plethora of rewards on offer that culminated in players being able to catch the Mythical Pokemon Victini.

Niantic is remaining tight-lipped regarding what we can expect from this year's event, with more details expected to be announced at a later date. However, based on Pokemon Go Fest 2020, we can somewhat speculate on what Trainers will get up to on July 17th and 18th.

Last year, the two days followed different formats and had their own respective Special Research tasks to complete. There were a host of challenges to beat that would net players various rewards including, as mentioned, Victini. It seems likely we can expect to capture another Mythical or Legendary Pokemon then.

Pokemon Go Fest 2020 was also a ticketed event. This cost £14.99 or your local equivalent last year whilst the event itself ran between 10:00 am and 8:00 pm local time each day. There was also a week of challenges before the event itself. All players could complete these regardless of whether they had purchased a ticket.

Pokemon Go is available now over on the App Store and Google Play. It's a free-to-play game with in-app purchases.
