Pixel Starships 2 annihilates Kickstarter goal with still two months to go

With all the talk of a certain other spaceship game doing the rounds lately, it is very important to remember that back in 2016, a little studio named SavySoda absolutely knocked that genre out of the park with Pixel Starships, and now, the sequel smashed past its Kickstarter goal in 24 hours.
If you never played the original, you missed out. You got to pick a faction from the Federation, Qtarian, or the obviously superior Pirates, then head into space, engaging in real-time ship fights where you could target specific systems and rooms and even teleport your crew aboard the opposing ship. There was also a pretty nifty turn-based team battle mode if things got up close and personal. Outside the combat, there was a truly comprehensive base-building system as you chose what rooms to build on your ship, balancing the generation of resources, storage areas, weapons, shields, and the generators to power them. One of the things SavySoda got so right was not giving players the ability to have enough power to build every single room, so you had to plan your own unique style.
The successor to this title, aptly named Pixel Starships 2, is currently chilling on Kickstarter until November 25th, having already tripled its goal of $25,000. The first was a masterpiece, and it looks like the sequel will let us view this pixel paradise in an interesting 2.5D style, to get players more engrossed in the action.
In terms of goals, of course, the good stuff, the $84,000 raised has already unlocked a new missions system and ground battle which will be interesting to see, whilst the next stage at 100k will unlock a new tournament system. For personal use, a few goals stand out. Big spenders could net themselves a Custom Crewmate based on themselves, a Space Station to host events or resell, or if you feel particularly generous, a whole planet you can develop on.
Pixel Starships 2 will be available on the App Store and Google Play, but for now, you can visit the Kickstarter to check out that sweet, low-res goodness.
