Abylight Studios and Dummy Dojo have announced today that their upcoming runner Ninja Chowdown will release for iOS on December 3rd. It sees players taking controller of a desert-loving ninja called Donatsu.

It promises to be an action-packed and pun-filled runner set in a world where food-loving clans run everything. Along the way, Donatsu will have to face off against a host of food bosses including the Pizza Pierates, the Traveling Rollnins and the Barbacarians.

The game kicks off with Sushi Sam stealing the Know-nut, a Doughnut of Ultimate Knowledge, from the Dough-Jo so Donatsu sets off to retrieve it. You can see the puns already. Despite Donatsu size, his training has still kept him agile, meaning he'll have no problem endlessly running.

The controls will apparently be easy to learn but hard to master, an aim a lot of games strive to achieve. Players will have to jump over obstacles and enemies whilst throwing ninja stars at those it'd be impossible to leap over in time. Each stage has been designed to play in short bursts with the levels lasting anywhere between 30 seconds and 3 minutes.

There will be 35 levels in total with 3 different game modes to try out to help keep the runner interesting. Through their adventure, players will be able to collect pets, clothes and weapons that can be used to customise their experience.

Ninja Chowdown is available to pre-order now over on the App Store ahead of its release on 3rd December. It will be a free-to-play game with in-app purchases.
