Mini DAYZ beginner's guide: How to become a true survivor

Surviving the zombie apocalypse is no easy task. Bohemia Interactive's latest game, Mini DAYZ makes that clear from the get-go. Much like its PC counterpart, Mini DAYZ drops you smack dab in the middle of a zombie-infested wasteland with nothing but the clothes on your back. 

It's an intimidating prospect, but with a few expert tips you should be well on your way to making a life for yourself in this wasted new world you've found yourself in. 

Bundle up

Your first concern may be food, so you'll be surprised to find that a lack of proper clothing could mean you freeze to death before you even come face to face with any zombies. Collect every last scrap of clothing you can find. This will ensure that your body temperature remains stable, and you can use older clothes for bandages should you injure yourself. 

Live the pacifist lifestyle

Until you get a ranged weapon, try to avoid combat at all costs. There's plenty of excitement to be had in this game that rushing in to punch a zombie in the face isn't really worth the risk. You may lose health or even risk becoming infected, so run away from zombies where you can. 

Make a nest

The nomadic way of life is fine for starters, but you'll be safer if you eventually build a base. It's a good place to store gear and food, and it allows you to build up sturdy defenses from unwanted visitors and the other dangers you'll find in the wild. 

Think before your spend those perks

Experience comes slowly, and every perk counts, so plan carefully when you're assigning your character these important bonuses. Think about which perks will help you the most in your current situation. If you're just beginning, you might want to invest in the Sprinter perk, which increases your running speed by 10%. It's perfect for outrunning zombies (no punching the undead, remember?). 

It's a rough and tumble world out there, but with some careful planning you might just live to see another day in Mini DAYZ.
