Glyph Quest Chronicles guide - how to master the arcane arts

Glyph Quest returns with a new free-to-play game, Glyph Quest Chronicles. Chronicles offers up more of the light-hearted, good humored fantasy fun that previous games featured, but with a few more refined tricks up its sleeve. 

It's a clever mix of match-three and RPG mechanics that has a surprising amount of depth. Players who consider battles with a strategic eye will be the most successful. Even if you're new to the game, though, there are a few tips you can keep in mind to become a true Glyph Quest wizard. 

Reversals are just as important as chains

In Glyph Quest Chronicles, you'll gain impressive damage bonuses for casting the same spell repeatedly, building up your chain. While it's fun to see how high you can chain spells, don't forget to pull a Reversal afterwards by casting a spell of the opposite element. Reversals pack quite a punch, and can turn the battle in your favor if you time it well. 

Take time to learn the bestiary

Battles can get pretty tough. You'll often be accosted by three enemies at a time, inflicted with status ailments, or both. It's rough out there, but there are ways to make your path a little easier. Try to memorize each monster's strength and weakness. This will make future battles much easier when you know the proper spells to cast to dispatch your enemies as quickly as possible. It will greatly increase your survivability. 

Don't be afraid to grind 

Grinding is just the way of the Glyph Quest world, but it's not necessarily a bad thing. The game's constantly changing match-three puzzles make repeating stages a breeze. You'll want to grind for the crafting materials dropped by monsters. Crafting better armor will improve your performance in battle.

Grinding's also essential for earning gold for potions and leveling up your character to take on some of the game's nastier bosses and dungeons.

Ultimately, though, Glyph Quest Chronicles revels in experimentation. Mix elements to come up with fun new spell combinations and find your own clever strategies once you master these basics.
