If you enjoyed Knights of Pen & Paper and its sequel, you're in for a real treat, as Galaxy of Pen & Paper has officially launched on the App Store. Galaxy takes us far from the irreverent fantasy setting of Knights of Pen & Paper to a futuristic, sci-fi universe full of intergalactic intrigue.
At its core though, Galaxy of Pen & Paper is quite similar to its predecessors. You act as both dungeon master and player in this funky interpretation of classic pen and paper roleplaying games. You have full control of how the story unwinds, choosing your players and handpicking the quest lines you'd like to pursue.
The combat is quite familiar, too, adopting some classic JRPG elements with just a touch of spice. It's turn-based, but there's a lot of strategy involved, and you'll have to use party formation and each character's unique abilities to get out of some truly sticky situations.
On top of all of that, the quirky, humorous writing of past Pen & Paper games shine through, and sci-fi pop-culture references abound, featuring throw backs to Star Wars, Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and more.
It should be a good time, especially if you favor science fiction worlds over traditional fantasy. You can find it on the App Store right now for $4.99.
