You might remember Cursed Castilla from its initial release back in 2012 where it debuted on the PC. Since then it's been released on pretty much every other platform and now it's added iOS to that list. It's a side-scrolling action game that draws influence from games like Ghosts 'N' Goblins.

You'll take control of Don Ramiro and set off on a quest to banish invading evils from the lands of Tolomera. On his journey, he'll face off against a plethora of enemies that have their origins in European folklore. Some of those mythical beasties include mouras, Ojáncanos, Nuberus and Malismos.

I always enjoy games that delve into different folklores that I'm not familiar with. It provides a good place to learn about them and Cursed Castilla also has a bestiary that gives you more details about the various creatures within the game.

There are eight stages to battle your way through to save the Kingdom of Tolomera where you'll come face-to-face with 48 types of enemy and 19 bosses. You'll also find numerous different weapons along the way so you'll be able to wield whatever you feel suits you best. There are also four different endings to the game, which are affected by how you perform on the various missions.

On launch, Cursed Castilla has several options that will allow players to customise how they play. Whilst it has on-screen controls you will be able to use an MFi controller if you'd like. Additionally, the game can also be played in either portrait or landscape.

Cursed Castilla is available now on the App Store. It's a premium game that costs £3.99/$3.99.
