Feral Interactive has finally released their highly anticipated iOS version of the strategy classic Company of Heroes. It's available now for iPad as a premium title and has had various tweaks to ensure that it's optimised for touch controls.

This includes a few new additions to the game such as the command wheel. This is accessed by tapping and holding on any unit present on the battlefield. This will open up a circular menu that will provide you with a host of actions that a unit can carry out.

Time will also slow down when you do this to allow players to think they move through. However, you can also play the game without the use of the wheel if you'd prefer, this is merely an additional option. And there are few other touches like this such as multiple options for selecting units.

They've even included an option to save a bit of space on your tablet which is a thoughtful inclusion given that the game will take up 6gb of space, though Feral Interactive recommends having at least 8gb available. You'll be able to choose which skirmish and campaign missions are installed as well as being able to decide if you want high-quality models or not.

If you're unfamiliar with Company of Heroes, it's a strategy game where throughout its campaign you'll take charge of two different companies of American soldiers and guide them various operations throughout WWII, starting with the D-Day Invasion of Normandy.

Company of Heroes originally released back in 2006, where it's frequently heralded as one of the finest strategy games of all time. Long time fans of the series were pleased then to hear that Feral Interactive would be handling the port as they've bet a well-deserved reputation for bringing classic games to iPad such as Tropico and Rome: Total War.

Company of Heroes is now available for iPad over on the App Store. It's a premium title that costs $13.99.
