Board Soccer, the retro tabletop style soccer game, is out now for iOS and Android

With the world currently gripped in football fever, indie developer Bachey has taken advantage and released its latest sports game, Board Soccer. In the spirit of the 2022 World Cup, players will be able to pick from more than 50 countries to take to the pitch.

Designed to call back to the retro soccer games of youth, Board Soccer sees all your plastic players stuck in place by springs, moving the ball around by how forcefully you ping them. Beneath each player is a pit in the turf which draws the ball towards them, so you’ll need to take that into account when knocking the ball around.

The pitch will be littered with epic tokens that when passed through will allow you to enter epic mode for the next shot. When enabling this mode, the normally wildly oscillating goalie will slow down for a while, giving you the opportunity to perfectly aim their next shot to get that goal.

Currently, the game provides a quick play match mode against AI opponents and a PvP mode, whilst future updates promise to bring a tournament mode, for added stakes, and a penalty kick mode to bring the tension of knockouts to the palm of your hand.

For those that want to get a bit more creative, a team customizer is on the table for players to add or customize their teams, so you could pit your small town team against the might of Brazil. There are also more power ups being considered, as well as a replay camera to admire your best goals.
