Blade: Sword of Elysion is the kind of action RPG you can dip into at any time of day, achieve something in the space of a few minutes, then marvel at how mindless yet entertaining it all was.

While its tutorial does a good job of helping you through the basics, there’s more to it than just that. We’re here with some helpful advice on how best to succeed at hacking and slashing everything in sight.

Don’t expect to rush in

Blade: Sword of Elysion might seem like a fast download from the App Store but that’s because there’s more to download once you load up the game. Don’t save opening it for the first time for when you’re on the bus. Get to it. Now.

Picking your class

Don’t stress too much over which class you choose. You can be either Leo the warrior, Reina the mage, or Limon the assassin. They’re all pretty well balanced regardless of what you choose.

Fighting is easy, living is harder

Blade: Sword of Elysion does a good job of teaching you how to attack, but don’t forget to defend too.

Hit that defend button to block an attack or double tap the dodge button to roll out of the way, then laugh at your enemy missing you. Or something like that.

Work on those gains

You’ll level up pretty quickly as you play so don’t forget to upgrade your skills with SP every chance you get. They provide bonus perks like extra damage from your special attacks.

Keep your inventory and equipment well organized too. A good weapon or piece of armor can make a world of difference. As you tend to receive a lot, you want to keep an eye on it and not get too overwhelmed.

Log in regularly

Blade: Sword of Elysion likes to reward you with coins and gems for logging in frequently. It’ll only take a second or two, so make sure you keep up with it.

Follow the many, many missions

Besides the many quests that move the story forward, Blade: Sword of Elysion has a ton of simple quests to complete. These require you to perform actions like clearing dungeons each day, participating in PvP, killing a certain number of enemies, and so forth.

Blade: Sword of Elysion divides them up into daily, weekly, and even monthly missions, so make sure you work at them.
