A new major update has been released by Behaviour Interactive, completely altering their officially licensed Game of Thrones: Beyond the Wall. Taking lead from the fan-favourite books and most of the series, Beyond the Wall gives players the chance to recruit their favourite characters and fight alongside them.
Set 48 years before the events of the much-beloved Game of Thrones series, Lord Commander Brynden Rivers has vanished beyond the Wall, and it is down to the player to adventure out with a group of iconic characters to find out what happened to Lord Rivers. The likes of Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen, Melisandre and more are available to recruit, completely shattering the timeline but who cares as long as it's fun?
This update completely changes the gameplay of Beyond the Wall, leaving behind the old war-chess system and embracing a new action-packed method of play. Players will be able to harness the special ability of each hero, design new combat strategies and build multiple squads to command in battle.
When discussing the update, Senior Creative Director of Behaviour Interactive Kason Millena said “Just as its predecessor, the re-envisioning of this title continues to be inspired by the incredible world-building that was integral to the identity of Game of Thrones.”
“This much-welcomed update greatly improves the game’s experience and preserves some of the great moments you’ve seen in the series. Maintaining the archetypes and the complexities of the world conceived in the lore while reimagining this new gameplay has been an exciting experience that we can’t wait to share.”
Alongside the story, players will be able to enjoy the new gameplay in modes such as PvP combat, and together with friends by forming a Battalion to take down giant bosses. Battalions can help speed up the growth of friends' heroes and gather precious rewards together to more effectively protect Westeros.
